I printed "Daddy" onto a piece of white cardstock. You could also hand-write it. Any kind of paper works, but I love card stock for durability. Make the printing or writing very large so that if your child places pom poms over the letters you can still read the word.
I poured the glue into a little dish to make dipping the pom poms easier.
I showed my child how to dip the pom poms into the glue.
He randomly stuck them onto the paper.
When he decided he was done, we left the paper to dry. He spent a few more minutes exploring with the glue and some remaining pom poms, making a sort of pom pom and glue soup.
I trimmed the paper a bit and added "I love you", the year, and a signature with a sharpie. You can also mount this on some pretty scrapbooking paper or attach a magnet to the back.
