Is it possible for water to flow in a line that isn't straight? Can it curve along a line? Can it beat gravity? Let's find out!

A little messy
We knew that water flows in a straight line--but is it possible for it to flow differently? Are other water molecules a strong enough force to pull it in a different direction?
First, we soaked our string in water for a minute or two; the water molecules will long to stay together, and that's what is going to make our gravity-defying stream work!
We tied the string onto our weight (a rock).
We tied the other end of our string to the handle of our measuring cup.
Maddie put the rock at the far end of our pan--stretching our string out as far as it would go, and slowly started pouring.
Excellent! "This is so cool how the water follows the string!"
How wide can we make our stream of water?
How steep can we make the angle?
Will a heavier string hold and attract even more water? Maybe you'd like to find out!
